ON THE BEACH ALONE AT NIGHT Invited to Competition
Renowned Korean auteur
HONG Sang-soo is set to return to the Berlin International Film Festival next month after his latest film
On the Beach Alone at Night, which will have its world premiere in Berlinale’s international competition.
The film is HONG’s 19th, following last year’s
Yourself and Yours, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. The filmmaker also filmed his 20th work
Claire’s Camera during the Cannes Film Festival last year, which stars his
In Another Country (2012) collaborator Isabelle Huppert as well as KIM Min-hee once again. HONG and KIM are also filming his 21st work in Central Seoul.
On the Beach Alone at Night is the first Korean film to appear in the Berlinale competition since HONG’s film
Nobody’s Daughter Haewon in 2013. The festival this year will hold its 67th edition from February 9th to 19th.
