JUNG Jae-young has a tough guy’s look but a quirky, innocent streak as well. He has consistently shown his mettle as a performer as he brings out unexpected dimensions of his personality in his roles. He portrayed a tough guy in <No Blood, No Tears>, which featured small-time thugs whose struggle with life is as harsh as those of fighting dogs. With <No Blood, No Tears>, he developed himself as a character actor and followed that with colorful roles as a tough guy like a “ghost” solider in <Silmido> and a cold blooded gangster in <Public Enemy Returns>. His eccentricity and innocence are well reflected in <Someone Special>, which depicted a man falling in love with a quirky woman ([LEE Na-young]), and <My Wedding Campaign>, which portrayed an old bachelor farmer traveling to Uzbekistan in his search for a bride. Creative humor, Jae-young's trademark, added levity to <Welcome to Dongmakgol> where he became a strange bedfellow with a gun-toting enemy, <The Divine Weapon> and <Castaway on the Moon>. JUNG delivered a stellar performance in <Moss> as a secretive bald old man. He also co-starred with [JEON Do-yeon] in <Countdown>, in which he played a debt collector who's guilt-ridden for the death of his son. 2012 saw him play a grizzled cynical detective in <Confession of Murder>. JUNG subsequently appeared in a flurry of projects over 2013-14. He appeared in HONG Sangsoo’s indie hit <Our Sunhi> in 2013, and received strong notices for his first outing with the auteur. A few months later, he starred in the time travel sci-fi <AM 11:00>. His next project was the first commercial release of 2014, the romcom <Plan Man> with HAN Ji-min. In the spring of that same year he appeared as a vengeful father in <Broken> and shortly after was seen in a supporting role in the period epic <The Fatal Encounter>. In 2015, JUNG appeared in his second HONG Sangsoo film, this time alongside KIM Min-hee, and also played a role in the office drama <Passion Like You're Sound And>, which was based on a book, alongside starlet PARK Bo-young.
