Born in Busan in 1986, AHN Jae-hong got his start as an actor quite early, scoring a supporting role in the feature film <Season in the Sun> with CHA In-pyo in 2003. Six years later, AHN was back in front of cameras in the short <A Perfect Sight>, followed a year later by <Chatter>. In 2011, AHN had the opportunity to take a role in auteur HONG Sang-soo’s <The Day He Arrives>, which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to some more shorts, AHN scored one of the leading roles in the indie youth drama <Sunshine Boys>, which bowed at the Busan International Film Festival. In 2013, he collaborated with HONG again on <Nobody’s Daughter Haewon>, before taking on the lead role in the indie sports drama <The King of Jogku>, which also debuted in Busan and became a surprise limited run hit in Korea.
That role, which showcased his affable charisma, brought AHN an enormous amount of attention and a chance to star in the big budget sequel <Tazza-The Hidden Card>, as well as smaller titles <Red Carpet> and <Miss the Train>. 2015 was AHN’s breakthrough year, when he built a broader audience through the TV show <Reply 1988> and no less than four commercial films, <C’est si bon>, <Twenty>, <Coin Locker Girl> and <The Sound of a Flower>. Increasing his position in the mainstream, AHN then appeared in the youth drama <The Last Ride>, the thriller <Missing You> and the sci-fi thriller <Fabricated City>. In 2016 he also directed the short <A Day in the Black Hole>, which screened at the Jeonju International Film Festival.
