New Action Blockbuster from Producer JK YOUN
Superstar
Hyun-bin has selected the North Korea-themed blockbuster
Cooperation (literal title) as his next project. With sophomore director
KIM Sung-hoon at the helm and hit filmmaker
JK YOUN assuming producing duties, the film is set to begin production early in 2016 for a planned release later in the year.
The project will see Hyun-bin take on the role of a North Korean detective who participates in a historic (but completely secret) investigation that marks the first time that South and North Korea cooperate on a joint case. Hyun-bin is expected to go into intense training as his part will require extensive action stunts but further details of the story are as of yet unknown.
YOUN is producing the film under his banner
JK Film, which was responsible for his previous smash hits
Haeundae (2009) and
Ode to My Father (2014), in addition to features from other filmmakers, such as
Quick (2011) and
The Spy: Undercover Operation (2013). The outfit is looking to invest around KRW 10 million (USD 8.36 million) into the production.
