  • LUCKY CHANSIL Takes Grand Prize at 8th Wildflower Film Awards

  • MOVING ON’s YOON Danbi Wins Best Director at Korea’s Indie Film Awards Show

    KIM Chohee’s debut film Lucky Chansil (2019) earned the Grand Prize at the 8th Wildflower Film Awards Korea, which was held at the Korea Literature House in Central Seoul on the evening of Friday, May 21. Lucky Chansil earned two prizes during the night, with KIM’s leading actress KANG Malgeum also earning the Best New Actor Award.

     

    The indie breakout Moving On (2019) earned the Best Narrative Director prize for YOON Danbi, while the Best Documentary Director Award went to KIM Mirye for East Asia Anti-Japan Armed Front (2019).

     

    The Best Actor prize went to KWAK Mingyu from The Boy from Nowhere (2019), while the Best Actress Award went to KIM Hojung of KIM Heejung’s A French Woman (2019). KIM’s film also earned the Best Cinematography Award.

     

    LEE Hanwie picked up the Best Supporting Actor Award for Somewhere in Between (2019), Best Screenplay went to LEE Taegyeom and KIM Jaen for I Don’t Fire Myself (2020), and the Best New Director went to veteran actor JUNG Jinyoung for his debut film behind the camera Me and Me (2020).

     

    Best Low-Budget Genre Film Award, a new category, went to LEE Donku for his film Fanfare (2019). The Staff Prize was won by JUNG Taeo and HWANG Inkyu, who provided the music for On The Road, Khaosan Tango (2018), and the Producer Prize went to Ray L. HONG, who produced the award-winning film Festival (2020).

     

    The Lifetime Achievement Award went to sound supervisor PYO Yongsoo, known for his extensive work on independent films, documentaries and animation. Finally, the Dandelion Award for Notable Documentary went to Director PARK Yunjin for her film People in Elancia (2020).
