DADDY YOU, THE KING’S CASE NOTE and THE MERCILESS Launch at Filmart
Korean major CJ Entertainment launched a slew of new titles at this month’s Hong Kong International Film and TV Market. The distributor added family dramedy Daddy You, Daughter Me, period mystery comedy The King’s Case Note and prison-set crime film The Merciless.
YOON Je-moon of Mother (2009) teams up with JEONG So-min of Alice: Boy from Wonderland (2015) in Daddy You, Daughter Me, from first time director KIM Hyeong-hyeop. The actors feature as a struggling section chief dad and high schooler daughter pair who switch bodies in this adaption of IGARASHI Takahisa’s novel. The film is due out on April 13th in Korea.
After the North and South Korea table-tennis drama As One (2012), director MOON Hyun-sung is getting ready to launch The King’s Case Note with LEE Sun-kyun (A Hard Day, 2014) and AHN Jae-hong (Fabricated City). LEE’s King teams up with AHN’s scholar to investigate the provenance of a strange rumor permeating his court. The title is slated for release in April.
BYUN Sung-hyun, director of romcom Whatcha Wearin’ (2012) returns with The Merciless, featuring Public Enemy (2002) lead SUL Kyung-gu as the inmate at the top of the chain in a jail, who welcomes a new inmate under his wing, played by K-pop star IM Si-wan, not knowing that he’s an undercover cop.
