KIM Hyung-hyup decided to become a film director after watching Andrei Tarkovski’s <The Sacrifice>. In 1996, he left for the United States to study film and video at the Columbia College in Chicago. After graduation, he went on with a Master’s degree from the American Film Institute. As a member of the Korean community in Chicago, he produced a TV program with the aim to teach accurate English expressions for everyday use to Korean immigrants. He directed a few short movies that have been selected and awarded at local film festivals and made his first long feature film in 2006 with <The Gift>. He eventually came back to Korea and made his Korean debut in 2016 with <Daddy You, Daughter Me>. He is now also an adjunct professor at Woosong University, in Daejeon.
