Election Drama Features CHOI Min-shik, KWAK Do-won
On January 22nd,
SHIM Eun-kyoung’s management company revealed that the young star officially joined the upcoming political drama
Special Citizen (translated title). The project already made headlines when it was announced that
CHOI Min-shik would take on the lead role.
CHOI will appear as the mayor of Seoul as he faces a reelection campaign after having already served two terms, while
KWAK Do-won is on board to play his aide. The latest casting adds SHIM as the chief of a youth innovation committee. Tackling the reigns will be director
PARK In-jae, who made the media thriller
Moby Dick in 2011 with
HWANG Jung-min and
KIM Min-hee.
Making her name in the 2011 hit
Sunny and then as the full-blown lead of Lunar New Year smash
Miss Granny (2014), SHIM is one of the brightest young names in the Korean film industry. She currently appears as the voice of the robot in
LEE Ho-jae’s
SORI: Voice from the Heart, which debuted in theaters last week.
Meanwhile, CHOI most recently appeared in the period hunting drama
The Tiger, and KWAK Do-won will next be seen in
NA Hong-jin’s
Goksung.
Special Citizen will get underway in the first half of 2016.
