Two Shorts to Compete in Short Film Sections

2014’s documentary sensation My Love, Don't Cross That River is set to screen at the 37th Moscow International festival in the non-competition program "Free Thought."

My Love..., the record-breaking independent documentary that hit the Korean box office last year, follows an old couple that has lived a fairy-tale romance through their 76 years of marriage. Since opening last year, the documentary has traveled to multiple international film festivals including the New York Asian Film Festival, the Sydney Film Festival and Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. It won the Special Jury Award at the Millennium International Documentary Film Festival this year.

Two short films have also been selected to compete: KIM Youn-sik’s 21-minute long death-journey drama The Story of Snow and KIM Yunha’s contract-murderer drama Sniper’s Observation Method are the two.

Established in 1935, the Moscow International Film Festival has showcased and highlighted a number of Korean films. IM Kwon-taek’s Come, Come, Come Upward was presented with the Best Actress Award for KANG Soo-yeon while JANG Joon-hwan won the Best Director’s award for his festival favorite Save the Green Planet. The festival has more recently introduced arthouse titles such as SHIN Yeon-shick’s The Avian Kind, HONG Sang-soo’s Nobody’s Daughter Haewon, and O Muel’s Jiseul.

The Moscow International Film Festival will run from June 19-26.
