His fifth film <The Avian Kind>, which expands on a story first alluded to in <The Russian Novel>, broke the trend by debuting at the Jeonju International Film Festival. It was one of three films supported by JIFF’s Jeonju Digital Project in 2014. Jeonju welcomed SHIN back in 2015 with his omnibus feature <Like a French Film>, which featured <The Walking Dead> star Steven YEUN in one its segments. Then in early 2016, he made the black and white Colonial Era drama <Dongju: Portrait of a Poet>, which he wrote and produced, and was directed by LEE Joon-ik. The low-budget film became an unexpected success.Less
