The Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA) of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC, Chairman: KIM Sae-hoon) will open ‘3D, Once Again’ during the 19th Bucheon Internation Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan). It is time to look back at the achievements made in 3D film production projects during the past three years which KAFA has been making progress since 2012. Also it served as a meeting place to review various issues related to new film format, 3D.

 

At first, ‘3D & BEYOND’ forum will take place on July 19, from 2 p.m. for four hours at Koryo Hotel in Bucheon.
 
Section 1 themed ‘Industry’ is to examine achievements and limitations including storytelling, manpower training, aesthetic and technology from making domestic 3D commercial films so far. It will take professional advice from expert in vaious fields like production, postproduction and the theater to mainstream 3D films to major film industry. Mad Sad Bad (2014) producer PARK Dae-hee, MasterImage 3D director Kim Sung-woo, CJ CGV ScreenX superviser AHN Gu-chul, DNext Media chief SUNG Young-suk (Northern Limit Line 3D converting) are on the panel.

 

Section 2 themed ‘technology’ is to look over technical trends related with visual industries like 3D and ScreenX. Director ChOI Equan, Director of photoraphy KIM Young-no, Robot Taekwon V  producer PARK Guan-woo, Real D Square CEO PAKR Young-hwan, Digital IDEA production director SON Seung-hyun and more will join as moderators and panels.

 

Mega Talk will be held on July 17th at 7 p.m. After premiere Elephant In the Room from the 8th ‘KAFA+next D’ project, KAFA 3D film production project, Chicken Game director PARK Soo-young, Second Account director KWON Chil-in, The gifted hands director GWON Ho-young and other 9th directors will share their 3D directing experiences with the audience.

 

Mega Party will continuously progress where the participants of the ‘KAFA+next D’ project with a total of 25 films (including omnibuses) made during the past three years will gather togher. 3D feature film project as a part of the 10th project will be first announced in the event.

 

Besides Elephant In the Room, Mad Sad Bad (2014) which is directed by RYOO Seung-wan, HAN Ji-seung and KIM Tae-yong from the 6th ‘KAFA+ Next D’ project and ‘KAFA short 3D collections’ will be presented in the 19th edition of BiFan this year.
