KIM Min-chul specializes in the production of documentary films with an eye on the global market. He has produced numerous projects by taking advantage of international public funds and European broadcasters production assistance programs, and then marketed these projects overseas. 2010 was a year of many accomplishments for him. While in charge of overseas marketing of <Iron Crows>, managing sales of the film in 15 countries, he played a key role in the film winning the Best Mid-Length Documentary Award at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam(IDFA). He also produced <Planet of Snail>, the opening film at the 7th EBS International Documentary Festival, for which he received investment from Korea, Japan, the US, and Finland. Another documentary he produced, <My Barefoot Friend>, also was invited to the feature film competition section of the IDFA. In addition, KIM has experience in stage performance planning and marketing, and has participated in documentaries and feature films developed by Dutch broadcasting and film production companies as a producer. In 2012, he completed <Captain Kang> and <9 Muses of Star Empire>, which were respectively invited to the Busan International Film Festival and the IDFA. His current projects include <State of Play>, the first Belgian-Korean co-production documentary about Korean gamers, and <Wind on the Moon>, the new documentary from <Planet of Snail>’s director YI Seung-jun’s.
