Moo-myoung is a Joseon dynasty headhunter who tracks down fugitives and lives off their rewards. On a mission to kill a catholic priest, he encounters a beautiful noble lady, Ja-young and falls in love with her. A few years later, Ja-young is arranged to become the next queen of Joseon and enters the royal palace. Lovesick Moo-myoung becomes the personal guard to the queen in order to be closer to Ja-young. As the queen of a conservative, Confucius nation, Ja-young becomes involved in a political power struggle with Russia and Japan that are trying to colonize Joseon. To protect the dynasty and her country, she confronts with the King's father and other influential foreign diplomats to of no avail. As the Japanese government plots her assassination under implicit agreement with the King's father, who is the real ruler of the nation as regent, Moo-myoung must fend off devastating threats from the King's army in order to protect Ja-young from harm. The story of MIN Ja-young is well known throughout the world with popular TV dramas and Broadway musical. This feature film adaptation switches gears as it focuses on the tragic period love story with action that shares similar roots with Portrait of Beauty and The Frozen Flower. It re-interprets the real historical characters and puts them together with imagined characters for dramatic effects.

The Sword with No Name is based on the chivalry novel of the same title by Yasulok. The story takes a different look at MIN Ja-young, not as a strong female politician, but as a lady with sensibility. It will show splendid Joseon Daynasty period when cultural exchange between the East and West was enthusiastic. SU Ae, an actress who is popular for her traditional beauty, and CHO Seung-woo, a versatile actor as well as a musical star, make an attractive duo for this melodrama. This film marks the third feature for the director KIM Yong-kyun following Wanee & Junnah and The Red Shoes.
