Animation director YEON Sang-ho won Special Mention in Feature Film at the 25th Animafest Zagreb for his award-winning animated feature The Fake.The festival, which ran between 9—14 June, praised The Fake as it has “so well expressed, through uncompromising direction, the dark side of human nature and its sometimes futile beliefs.“Annually held in Croatia, the Animafest Zagreb is one of the world’s “big four” animation festivals, along with the Annecy International Animated Film Festival (France), Ottawa International Animation Festival (Canada) and Hiroshima International Animation Festival (Japan).Since the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013, the social satire animation film which criticizes human duplicity has earned awards at Spain’s Sitges Film Festival and Gijón International Film Festival, as well as receiving a few at domestic festivals, including the first Wildflower Film Awards in 2014.Director YEON Sang-ho is currently in production on his debut live-action feature Busan-bound, with top star GONG Yoo involved.
