Multi-entertainer and director, SHIM Hyung-rae has secured 10 million USD for the sequel of D-War (2007).

Vista Cay Hotel Group Jeju confirmed on the 20th that “We’re happy to announce that we will be investing 10 million USD for director SHIM’s D-War 2.” The luxurious Vista Cay Hotel in Jeju is located in the province of Seo-gwi-po which is a self-governing region. OH In-seok, the Managing Director of Vista Cay Hotel Jeju said, “To support Korean cultural contents, we have established a creative investment program, ‘Global Korea Investment Business,’ where we selected SHIM Hyung-rae’s D-War 2. The partnership and investment will hopefully take part in the globalization and success of the Korean SF film.”

Through the partnership, D-War 2’s future is looking bright. The scenario is approximately 80% complete, confirmed the director. Distributor, CG, producer, and scenario are still underway, but David Ebner’s name, the CG guru who worked on Godzilla and Spiderman 3 (2007) is currently being tossed around for the project.

D-War 2 is set during the cold war in 1969, when NASA’s astronauts Steve, Alvin, and Hubert board a spaceship just before the Soviet’s ship is launched.
