Representing Love, Fantasy, and Adventure
Young actress SHIM Eun-kyoung has been confirmed as the 18th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival’s PiFan Lady. She will be attending the press conference on the 19th at Shinsegae Cultural Hall to announce her participation.
PiFan representative stated that with the theme of love, fantasy and adventure for this year’s festival, SHIM fit perfectly with her optimistic and outgoing image. In previous years, renown actresses such as HA Ji-won and PARK Bo-young were PiFan Ladies and SHIM will be taking over the legacy this year.
SHIM’s filmography started with the fantasy drama Hansel and Gretel in 2007, directed by YIM Pil-sung, and she continuously performed in various genres of film. With her following roles in Possessed (2009) and Hello Murderer (2010), it is easy to see that she didn’t shy away from the horror, fantasy, thriller genre even at an early age. Through her roles in dramas, Sunny (2011) and Masquerade (2012), she proved her talent in acting and firmed her reputation through this year’s hit, Miss Granny. In May, SHIM was presented with the Best Actress award from the JTBC Baeksang Awards, becoming one of the highly anticipated actresses in Korea.
Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival was founded in 1997, and selects ‘fantastic’ programming each year, often films of genre including horror, mystery, thriller, and science-fiction which curated a very specific identity for the festival. With her interest in genre films, SHIM is the perfect fit for PiFan Lady. The festival will be held from July 17th to 27th.
