Awarded at Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival
The 32nd edition of the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, which ran from April 8th to 20th, screened a quintet of Korean films, including the horror omnibus sequel
Horror Stories II, which was awarded the Silver Raven prize in the International Competition. Juno MAK’s
Rigor Mortis from Hong Kong also took home a Silver Raven while the Spanish feature
Witching and Bitching from Alex de la Iglesia earned the top Golden Raven.
Horror Stories II was directed by KIM Hwi, KIM Sung-ho, MIN Kyu-dong, JUNG Bum-shik and SEO Eun-jung. The film, which features four shorts that are linked together by a short framing narrative, also screened at the Puchon and Sitges International Fantastic Film Festivals.
In addition to the prize winner, KIM Ki-duk’s Moebius was screened in the 7th Orbit section. The controversial film, which debuted out of competition at the Venice International Film Festival, has been invited to numerous events. Meanwhile, three Korean works were invited to the Thriller Competition. Those were the summer surveillance thriller Cold Eyes, the surprise hit horror-thriller Hide and Seek and the revenge thriller The Fives.
