KANG Woo-suk Preps Joseon Version of Two Cops
SEOL Kyung-gu and JI Chang-wook are set to star in Du Pojol (Two Policemen - literal translation), the newest film from KANG Woo-suk who previously directed Silmido (2003) and Public Enemy (2002). Director KANG already selected SEOL Kyung-gu, who already starred in KANG’s Public Enemy series, for the main character, and now rookie JI Chang-wook has been cast as SEOL’s partner.
Director KANG said, “I’m hoping to raise expectations by featuring big stars just like in Two Cops (1993). I aim to have an better and more appealing pairing than AHN Sung-ki and PARK Joong-hoon.” Meanwhile JI Chang-wook is known for TV Series Smile Again (2010) and Empress Qi. He also took supporting roles in the movies Sleeping Beauty (2008) and Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp (2010). “JI’s efforts to not only to gain popularity but also take on a variety of roles appealed to me.” KANG explained.
Du Posol is a detective comedy movie set in the police bureau of Hansung during the Joseon Dynasty. A veteran policemen and a reckless newcomer are breaking cases in the film reminiscent of KANG’s early box office hit Two Cops (1993). Du Posol will start shooting early this year and is expected to be released on screens within 2014.
