A press conference for The Huntresses, which will be released for the Lunar New Year holiday, was held at the Seoul, Wangshimni CGV on January 2nd. This Charlie’s Angels-inspired action comedy set during the Chosun Dynasty period stars HA Ji-won, KANG Ye-won and SOHN Ga-in.

The Huntresses features the intelligent and talented martial arts swordswoman Jin-ok, housewife and fighter Hong-dan, and Ga-bi, the youngest of the trio. These three, who are the Chosun Dynasty’s top bounty hunters, set out on a secret mission commissioned by the king to search for the stauroscope. HA Ji-won, starring as Jin-ok, has already proved her flair for action through films such as Miracle on 1st Street (2007), Duelist (2005) and Sector 7 (2011). The actress, who attended the press conference, seemed confident with her role in this film as she stated “I was able to be my usual cheerful self when I played Jin-ok.”

KANG Ye-won, who demonstrated her comic skills in blockbusters Haeundae (2009) and Quick (2011) commented “I loved Star Wars as a child and liked to play with long sticks. In this film I use a three part rod for my action scenes. It was like I was in a fantasy film and I enjoyed the ride.” This is the second film for SOHN Ga-in who had an opportunity to star with HA Ji-won before in Closer To Heaven (2009), and she plays the youngest swordswoman among the three with a wild and spunky character. She also gets to show off her belly dancing skills in this film. Returning since his 2008 feature You & You, filmmaker PARK Jae-hyun explains with satisfaction that “The comic ensemble of the three actresses is quite impressive.”

 

The Huntresses, which will distributed by Showbox/Mediaplex Inc., is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 29th.
