APM Project ANT STORY Also in Lineup
KIM Jae-han’s debut Thuy will be having its international premiere in the United Arab Emirates next month as part of the Muhr AsiaAfrica competition at the Dubai International Film Festival.
Thuy, which follows a young Vietnamese bride as she tries to piece together the mystery behind the suspect circumstances of her husband’s sudden death, had its world premiere during last month’s 18th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), where it screened in the Korean Cinema Today: Vision section. Mostofa Sarwar FAROOKI’s Ant Story, which was one of the projects during this year’s Asian Project Market at BIFF, is also in the lineup. FAROOKI’s previous film Television served as the closing film for last year’s BIFF.
The most recent Korean works to be selected for the competion for Beautiful Miss Jin in 2011 and Ordinary Days in 2010. The films will compete with eight other contenders for the category’s large purse, which totals USD 121,000, with the top prize worth USD 50,000 and another USD 40,000 going to the recipient of the Special Jury Prize. The 10th Dubai International Film Festival is set to take place from December 6th to 14th.
