PIETA, THE GRAND HEIST and THE WEIGHT Win 4 Prizes
After opening its doors on March 1st, the 33rd Oporto International Film Festival, known as Fantasporto, finished its run on March 9th but not before doling out a quartet of awards for recent Korean hit films. The Portuguese film festival, which averages over 100,000 attendees, specializes in fantasy, science fiction and horror commercial releases, as well as experimental auteur-driven works.

Pieta took home honors for Best Film and Best Actress, for thespian
CHO Min-soo, duing the 23rd Director’s Week section. This new pair of awards follow a slew of others that the picture has accrued since winning the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival last fall. In the Orient Express Awards, Best Film went to the period caper comedy
The Grand Heist while
JEON Kyu-hwan’s
The Weight, another big hit on the festival circuit, won the Special Award.
