According to the standard of the complex database run by the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), Miracle in Cell No .7 gathered 11,754,228 accumulated spectators as of 7:40 p.m. on March 4th, and took 5th place, which had previously been kept by TaeGukGi: Brotherhood of War (11,746,135). RYOO Seung-wan’s The Berlin File also made a new record in its genre on March 4th. It became the most popular Korean action film by exceeding seven million viewers. It outnumbered The Man From Nowhere directed by LEE Jeong-beom (6,282,774) and The Good, The Bad And The Weird by KIM Jee-woon (6.686.912). A representative of CJ Entertainment said, “Considering that it’s a spy action film, we were worried that it would be difficult to expand the range of viewers, but we overcame it by virtue of the power of the film and support from spectators.”
