Irvine Recognizes JANG’s Acting after Busan, Costa Rica and Nevada
JANG Young-nam won the Best Actress Award at the Irvine International Film Festival with
Azooma, the movie where she played a leading role for the first time. JANG won the prize by defeating six other nominees for
Azooma at the Irvine International Film Festival held in Orange County, California from January 17th through 21st.
Last year, JANG won the Beat Actress Award of the Director’s Guild of Korea at the 2012
Busan International Film Festival. In addition,
Azooma received the Best Film Award at the Costa Rica International Film Festival and the Platinum Award at the Nevada International Film Festival last year.
Azooma tells a story about a mother who takes revenge on a criminal for raping her ten-year-old daughter after overcoming shoddy police investigations and obstructions by her husband. Director
LEE Ji-seung, who was invited to the competition category of the Irvine International Film Festival held a Q&A session with the audience after the screening of the movie on January 19th.
Azooma was also officially invited to the Beloit International Film Festival to be held in Wisconsin in the US, beginning on February 14th.
