April Snow, the new film by director HUR Jin-ho featuring pan-Asian stars BAE Yong-joon and SON Ye-jin, played host to 350 local and international journalists at a major press junket organized by distributor Show East. With BAE's popularity running at tremendously high levels in Japan, roughly 100 Japanese journalists were reported to have made the trip to Korea at their own expense in order to photograph the actor on set and attend a press conference. In addition, journalists were present from across Asia including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and China. The film is being shot in Samcheok on Korea's eastern coast, which is a 4-hour bus ride from Seoul. It tells the story of a man and woman who meet when their spouses who are having an affair are involved in a major automobile accident. BAE first achieved his huge popularity in Japan with the broadcast of TV drama Winter Sonata. Ever since, tour packages to various shooting locations from the drama have become popular with Japanese tourists.
