DAY TRIP Short Film Produced by PARK Brothers Opens Online
PARK Chan-wook attended the showcase of his new short film
DAY TRIP held at Coex Megabox in Dec. 27. At the showcase he said “I so wanted to work with Koreans and a short film was just about right.” He stayed in US filming
Stoker for a year and came back to Korea last fall.
About working in US he said “It was hard to work people who have different races and use different languages.” He also added “In Korea I’ve always worked with familiar staff but in the US everything works fast and there were so much to film in a day so there wasn't much time to interact with the actors. However although DAY TRIP took only 4 days to film, it was really nice to be with Koreans.”
DAY TRIP is his second short film following
Night Fishing filmed with his brother
PARK Chan-kyung. Recently the brothers made a brand out of their names ‘PAKRing CHANce’. PARK Chan-kyung said “PARKing CHANce is a brand only used for short films rather than feature films that need big funding or investment.” He also said jokingly that “if the brothers make the film together it's okay to be a little late or go to the bathroom freely.”
DAY TRIP is the first film for outdoor brand KOLON Sports' 40th anniversary “Way to Nature Film Project”. It contains 18 minutes of a Pansori teacher and a young student having a conversation and practicing against the Kyungju Nam mountain background.
The main character
SONG Kang-ho said “I didn’t have much time as I was filming
Physiognomy but I was able to use 3 days” explaining his casting. He said “I am a fan of
Night Fishing and have worked with PARK Chan-wook for a long time. I wanted to be part of the brother's work.”
DAY TRIP was released at the end of December.
