12 Chinese Zodiac Heads starring Korean actor
KWON Sang-woo has made a new record in the first week of its release. The film, released on December 20th in China recorded sales figures of 150 million Chinese Yuan (25.8 billion Korean won). The film recorded sales figures of 43.5 million Yuan, making it the most profitable film ever to be released around the year-end period. The director of the film is Jackie CHAN and KWON Sang-woo is one of the main leads along with CHAN.
The film was released simultaneously in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand and the admissions scores there were also excellent. Experts say the success is due to the name value of CHAN as well as to the popularity KWON enjoys as a Korean Wave star. An industry insider close to KWON said, “the film has recorded excellent numbers in the first few days since its release. People are continuing to talk about it and we can expect to see its' number of admissions rising." The Korean release date for 12 Chinese Zodiac Heads has been set for February 2013.
