To Be Awarded at the Korean Art Critics’ Conference on December 17th
The Korean Art Critics’ Conference announced on December 10th the eight winners of the Best Artist awards of the year, including KIM Ki-duk, at the 32nd edition. The recipients are the film director
KIM Ki-duk (film), the ballet choreographer KIM Hwa-rye (dance), the poet LEE Young-sik (literature), the painter CHA Dae-young (arts), the play actress YE Su-jeong (play), the soprano YUN I-na (music), an instructor at the National Gugak Center LEE Dong-gyu (traditional art), the dance critic LEE Byeong-ok (art criticism). The ceremony will take place at the International Conference Hall of the Korean Press Center at 6 p.m. on December 17th.
KIM also won the Grand prize at the 2nd Beautiful Artist Awards held on December 10th. At the award presentation, KIM said, “Korean film is presently full of inlets but there are no outlets” He then added, “I personally hope multiplex theaters can allow at least one screen for small films.”
