  • KIM Ki-duk`s 3-Iron wins FIPRESCI Grand Prix

  • 3-Iron, the acclaimed film by KIM Ki-duk which won the Best Director award at the 2004 Venice International Film Festival, has been presented with the FIPRESCI Grand Prix for year 2005. The award is presented to the best film to premiere between August 2004 and July 2005, as voted by 300 members of the FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) organization. This is the seventh year that such an award has been presented, and a special presentation will take place at the opening of the San Sebastian International Film Festival on September 15 in order to honor the director. KIM has indicated that he will be present to receive the award in person. Previous winners of the award include Jean-Luc Godard's Notre Musique, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Uzak, Aki Kaurismaki's The Man Without a Past, Jafar Panahi's The Circle, and Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia. 3-Iron tells the story of a man who breaks into empty homes, who one day comes across a woman abused by her husband.
