  • Smaller festivals to debut in summer

  • A number of small, theme-based film festivals are set to debut over the course of the summer, giving Korean audiences outside of Seoul a chance to experience more varied cinema. The first Jecheon International Music Film Festival is set to run from August 10-14 in the city of Jecheon, which is located in North Chungcheong Province in the central region of South Korea. the festival will present a total of 40 films that are somehow connected with the theme of music. The program will be divided into six sections: Musicians' Choice, a collection of films with impressive music chosen by local music directors; For Mania, documentaries and films on music of various genres; Cine Symphony, a collection of movies about musicians or members of the music industry; Family Zone, targeted at younger viewers; Global Panorama, with films that describe aspects of life around the world; and Filmmakers: Music Lovers, containing films by famous directors about music. Meanwhile Sokcho, a city in Gangwon Province on the eastern coast of Korea, will host the first Sokcho Horror Film Festival. The event will feature a range of films, from the latest horror films from Korea and other countries to classic Korean horror films, children's horror films, comic horror, etc. The festival will run from July 23 to August 7
