  • Decision to Leave, Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at Critics’ Choice Awards
  • by Park Hyejin /  Dec 18, 2022
  •

Director Park Chanwook's Decision to Leave was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the U.S. Critics’ Choice Awards. On December 14 (local time), the Critics’ Choice Association (CCA) announced the candidates for the 28th awards ceremony, and Decision to Leave (directed by Park Chanwook) was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.

Decision to Leave was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film alongside All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), Argentina 1985 (Argentina), Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (Mexico), Close (Belgium), and RRR (India).

The Critics’ Choice is an award show presented annually by the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association (CCA) to honor the finest in the cinematic quality of the work and the acting skills of actors, divided into TV and film categories. Along with Decision to Leave, Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Pachinko were also nominated for Best Foreign Language Series in the Critics’ Choice TV category earlier this month, leading to 3 Korean nominees in total.

Director Bong Joonho’s PARASITE won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2020, while Director Lee Isaac CHUNG’s Minari won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Young Performer (Alan Kim) in 2021. Also, the TV series, Squid Game, won two prizes at the Critics’ Choice Awards in March this year, including the Best Foreign Language Series and the Best Actor Award, raising expectations for whether Korean content will be able to take home trophies for 4 consecutive years.

The 28th annual Critics’ Choice Awards will be held at Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in L.A. on January 15, 2023.
