JEON So-nee will join the previously announced KIM Da-mi in the upcoming drama Hello, My Soulmate (translated title), the commercial debut of indie director MIN Yong-keun. A remake of the Chinese film Soulmate, the film is expected to enter production this coming August for three months.The film will follow the lifelong friendship of two very different girls who meet when they’re 13. The project is a remake of Derek TSANG’s acclaimed 2016 Chinese film Soulmate, which notably earned a joint Best Actress Award at the Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards for its leads ZHOU Dongyu and Sandra MA.KIM Da-mi burst onto the scene as the lead in PARK Hoon-jung’s action hit The Witch : Part 1. The Subversion (2018), for which she was chosen from auditions among some 1,500 hopefuls. She recently appeared in the popular JTBC series Itaewon Class, the first drama series produced by film studio Showbox, which was distributed globally on Netflix.JEON So-nee first appeared on the big screen in the indie After My Death, the New Currents Award winner at the Busan International Film Festival in 2017 and turned heads last year in her commercial debut, the action-thriller Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage (2019). She was also the co-star of Ghost Walk (2019), the Audience Award winner at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) in 2018.Director MIN is known for his acclaimed debut Re-encounter (2011) and has since made several short films, such as The Bicycle Thief (2014) and Dancing Cat (2015).Hello, My Soulmate is being jointly produced by Lezhin Studio and Management AND, KIM Da-mi’s agency.
