  • Korean Sales Agents Boasts 8 New Titles in BIFF Lineup

Korean international sales agent M-Line Distribution has announced several deals for its current titles FENGSHUI and Sunset in My Hometown. The company also added a slew of new Busan International Film Festival screened titles to its lineup.

From Perfect Game (2011) director PARK Hee-kon, FENGSHUI was one of this year’s Chuseok holiday titles and has accumulated over 2.07 million admissions. Featuring CHO Seung-woo, JI Sung and KIM Sung-kyun, this period era tale was sold to America (The Korea Daily) and Taiwan (Long Shong).

Sunset in My Hometown, which opened earlier this summer and is currently screening at BIFF, is the latest work from King And The Clown (2005) director LEE Joon-ik. PARK Jung-min stars as a washed up rapper who returns to his hometown where he meets KIM Go-eun, a childhood acquaintance. The youth comedy-drama was picked by The Korea Daily (the United States), Klockworx (Japan), Jetsen Huashi Wangju Culture Media (China), Movie Cloud (Taiwan) and CJ ENM (Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand).

Other reported sales included two acclaimed films from last year’s BIFF. KIM Ui-seok’s After My Death sold to Capricci in France and Astro, which will handle the film in Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. JEON Go-woon’s Microhabitat was bought by MATV (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam) as well as Time-In-Portrait Entertainment and GEE, which will handle its internet and in-flight rights, respectively.

M-Line Distribution is repping a large number of titles in Busan this year, including the New Currents Title Clean Up, Sunset in My Hometown and Memories of a Dead End in Korean Cinema Today - Panorama, A Boy and Sungreen, Our Body and Youngju in Korean Cinema Today - Vision and Cloud, Encore and Gravity of the Tea in Wide Angle.
