THE OUTLAWS Director to Adapt Popular Webtoon
KIM Rae-won is set to take the lead in the webtoon adaptation
Long Live the King, which will be director
KANG Yun-sung’s follow-up project to smash hit crime drama
THE OUTLAWS (2017). KIM will be joined on screen with
WON Jin-ah.
KIM will play Jang Se-chool, a mob boss who has been pining after Kang So-hyun for three years. Uninterested, she keeps pushing him away and to permanently get rid of him, she says she wants to be the first lady. At the same time, his friend finds himself on death row and in need of a presidential pardon. In order to get the girl of his dreams and save his friend, Se-chool decides it’s time to run for president.
Though well known for her roles on the small screen, WON has also had several small parts in major films, including last December’s North Korean action drama
Steel Rain (2017) and
KIM Jee-woon’s Colonial Era espionage drama
The Age of Shadows (2016).
Featuring
Don LEE (aka
MA Dong-seok) as a gruff Chinatown detective in the lead role, director KANG’s debut film
THE OUTLAWS unexpectedly became the top-selling title of last year’s Chuseok holiday, when it sold almost seven million tickets.
Long Live the King will go before cameras in late September.
