1st Edition to Be Held in November
The CJ Group is set to host a short film festival in Vietnam in November for the first time. It will be the Korean conglomerate’s second overseas film festival, following a previous event held in China.
The event, which will be known as the ‘Korean-Vietnamese Youth Short Film Production Support Project’, will be staged on November 16th by the CJ Group and the CJ Cultural Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Vietnam.
CJ decided to stage this event as they recognize the growth potential of the Vietnamese market. CJ subsidiary
CJ CGV is currently the largest exhibitor in the Vietnamese market, following their acquisition of local theater chain Megastar in 2011. Meanwhile,
CJ Entertainment is also one of the top distributors in the country, having produced and delivered many of the all-time top 10 films in the market.
A representative from
CJ CGV announced that the November event will feature the participation of several top Korean and Vietnamese directors as jury members, and the 10 selected finalists will receive help to be screened at other international film events.
