K-pop Music Video Director IM Sung-kwan to Helm First Film with Music Drama
Niel, member of the K-pop group TEEN TOP, will make his feature film debut in the upcoming film Swag. Described as a stylish music-themed romance, the film will be helmed by first time director IM Sung-kwan.
The young pop star will play a rich youth who begins to mature through his connection to music. Production on the project began on May 14 and filming will take place between Korea and Los Angeles.
Commenting on his role, Niel stated: “I feel pressure as it’s my first film, but as a singer myself I feel a connection to the role. I want to depict his growth as a true artist.”
Though Swag will mark the young performer’s acting debut in a feature film, he has previously taken to the stage, having been a member of the cast of last year’s musical ‘Altar Boyz'.
Director IM will be making his feature film debut. He is primarily known for shooting several music videos for K-pop acts such as Taeyeon's ‘Why’, BTOB's ‘Movie’, Block B's ‘Jackpot”, and TEEN TOP's ‘Miss Right’’.
Meanwhile, Niel is currently helping TEEN TOP to promote their new album ‘Seoul Night’ and will also join the band for a concert that will take place in Seoul in July.
