  • 1st Guest List Unveiled for 14th Jeonju International Film Festival

  • Director Laurent CANTET and Actress Katie COSENI of Opening Film FOXFIRE to Attend JIFF
    Visitors from all around the world, including critics, directors, and producers, plan to visit the 14th Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) from April 25th to May 3rd. Receiving a lot of worldwide attention following a previous announcement are this year's jury members for the international competition which includes: Darezhan OMIRBAYEV (Kazakhstan film master), Don FREDERICKSEN (Cornell University Professor), Santosh SIVAN (Master of comtemporary Indian film), RYU Seung-wan (Korean action movie director) and JUNG Woo-sung (Veteran Korean actor).
    The jury members for the Korean Film Competition are: Laurent CANTET (Director of the Opening Film Foxfire), Carlo CHATRIAN (Art director of the Locarno Film Festival), and KIM Young-Ha, a representative Korean novelist. KIM Young-Ha is the original writer of the upcoming movie My Brother Is Back from the Korea Cinemascape section and Short! Short! Short! 2013.
    The jury for the Korean Short Film Competition consists of experts such as Professor Giusy PISANO of Louis Lumière College. SHIN Yeon-shick, building his reputation with The Fair Love and The Russian Novel, and KIM Kkobbi, holding the international spotlight as the symbol of the Korean independent film industry, will also participate in the evaluation.
    JIFF also invites Brian BENNETT, chief executive of 9FilmFest; the biggest short film festival in Bangkok, Indu SHRIKENT, chief executive of Osian's Cinefan Film Festival, and Italo SPINELLI, an Indian/Asian film expert, to decide who will receive the Netpac Prize.

    Director Lauren CANTET and actress Katie COSENI of Foxfire, the opening film of JIFF 2013, will walk on the red carpet during the opening ceremony. Since Katie COSENI won the Best Actress Award at the San Sebastián Film Festival, she will come into the spotlight at Jeonju.
    Furthermore, a lot of directors throughout the world will attend the Jeonju International Film Festival. Guests of the International Film Competition are: Drew TOBIA of See you next Tuesday, director OZAWA Masato and actress Mika Akizuki of Remiges and actor Sa SITTIJUN of Karaoke Girl. Also, the guest list for the Korean Film Competition is as follows: Director KANG Jin-a, actress HAN Ye-ri and RIE Young-zin of Dear Dolphin and Director LEE Hyun-jung of Echo of Dragon.
    The guest list of the JIFF PROJECT is also very eye-catching. Along with director Edwin and director ZHANG Lu of the Jeonju Digital Project 2013, diirector KOBAYASHI Masahiro will visit Jeonju's cinemas accompanied by his wife KOBAYASHI Naoko. Also, several directors will participate with their casts during the festival: Director LEE Jin-woo with CHOI Won-young and KIM Seo-hyung; Director PARK Jin-sung and PARK Jin-seok with PARK Hyuk-kwon and BAE Seul-gi; Director LEE Sang-woo with CHO Youn-hee and HAN Joo-wan. They expect to meet spectators by attending world premiere screenings of their films.
    The Jeonju International Film Festival is also delighted to invite the well-known guests of the Korean Cinemascape program. The guests are: director YOON Jong-chan of My Paparotti, director PARK Hoon-jung of New World, director JEONG Jae-eun of Talking Architecture, City:Hall, director KANG Yi-kwan of Juvenile Offender, director KANG Woo-suk of Fist of Legend and director YANG Ik-june of Shibata and Nagao.
