  • BAD GUYS ALWAYS DIE Sets China, Korea Release Date
  • by Pierce Conran /  Dec 07, 2015
  • SON Ye-jin & CHEN Bolin Team Up for Action-Comedy

One of the major China-Korea co-productions in the pipeline, action-comedy Bad Guys Always Die has secured release dates in both of its production countries. SUN Hao’s feature debut will bow in China on December 27th while Korea will get it on January 21st. Featuring SON Ye-jin and CHEN Bolin, the film premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in October.

CHEN plays CHANG Tzu, a Chinese teacher living in Busan who takes a trip to Jeju Island with some friends. While there, they witness a car crash and when they try to save an injured woman (SON) from the collision, she turns out to be a dangerous mercenary hunting for her target on the holiday island.

SON, one of Korea’s most popular actresses, was most recently seen in last year’s swashbuckler The Pirates and will next be seen in the completed thriller Home Sweet Home and currently shooting period drama Princess Deokhye.

Taiwanese star CHEN has appeared in numerous major Chinese releases, including Jackie CHAN vehicle Chinese Zodiac and recently shot the Korean film Life-Staking Love, alongside HA Ji-won.

Bad Guys Always Die was produced by Korea’s KANG Je-kyu, the blockbuster helmer behind TaeGukGi: Brotherhood Of War (2004), and Chinese filmmaker FENG Xiaogang, known for Aftershock (2010).
