First Producer Credit for BONG Joon-ho
The shooting of Sea Fog began in October. Sea Fog marks the first time that BONG Joon-ho, the director of Snowpiercer, serves as a producer. The film is based on a play of the same name that was first staged in 2007. Sea Fog tells the story of a crew in a desperate smuggling situation as they become lost in a sea fog. Sea Fog will be directed by SHIM Seong-bo who co-wrote the screenplay for Memories of Murder (2003), a previous BONG Joon-ho film.
Over 90% of the main cast for the ocean adventure film has been confirmed. KIM Yun-seok, who starred in The Thieves and Hwayi: A Monster Boy, was cast as the captain of the ship, the title role of the film. PARK Yoo-chun, a member of the idol group JYJ, will play Dong-shik, a simple-hearted sailor who protects his girl. Rising actress HAN Ye-ri of As One and The Spy: Undercover Operation will play stowaway Hong-mae who embarks on a romance with Dong-shik. LEE Hui-joon of Dear Dolphin and The Flu will take the role of crew member Chang-wook.
