IM to Update Project to Reflect Modern Korea
IM Sang-soo is preparing for a controversial film once again. He has been trying to remake
Sleeping with the Enemy directed by Joseph RUBEN in 1991. The original film created waves by starring Julia ROBERTS. It is the story about a woman tormented by her husband’s Othello syndrome, germ phobia and violence. She runs away from him to be with another man, but she is terrified when her ex-husband comes after her.
IM is planning to apply his particularly sharp eyes to the film by melting the circumstances of Korea and social class issues within it. He has been meticulously working on the film from its early stages and is considering casting an actual husband and wife couple.
Meanwhile,
The Taste of Money, directed by IM and which was invited to the competition section of the Cannes International Film Festival in 2012, is going to be released in France in January 2013. It will be distributed by Wild Side/Le Pacte, a French distributor that has introduced France to a number of Korean films including ones directed by IM and
PARK Chan-wook.
