The 14th Pucheon International Students Animation Festival (PISAF 2012) wrapped up on November 11th after a successful five days. This year's PISAF offered a new vision of the animation festival and raised its international status. A total of 1207 entries from 39 countries were submitted, a record in the festival's  historyas the first round of the selection process proved very competitive.

 

Subsequently, 56 animations were chosen in the international students section and with 11 animations in the online competition section, making the total 67 pieces from 24 countries. The head of the jury, director Eric GOLDBERG, as well as the other members of the jury chose Jeffig LE BARS's Carn as the recipient of the grand prize of the international students competition section. The award comes with a 50 percent scholarship for the student if he or she decides to attend the Vancouver Film School in Canada.

 

The Special Jury Award went to LEE Eu-Song's Will, and the Best Animation Award went to Morten HELGELAND's Slug Invasion and JEONG Yu-mi's Love Games. The Audience Award was given to Kate HAASE's 1/2. The Best Online Award went to PARK Geun-tae, JEON Jong-gi, and YU Kyung-soo's Burp and the Netizen's Choice Award was given to Clemence BOUCHEREAU's Food Lover is Games.

 

This year's PISAF had diverse side-bar events as well as innovative screenings such as the Walt Disney Showcase, a Special performance of the Pucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Dinsey director Eric GOLDBERG's master class, and lectures on animation production and education by a technical director from Pixar.

 

Audience figures rose by 56 percent, demonstrating the fact that the event's international status has gone up dramatically and proving that the range of the audience has become diversified.
