The 10th Asiana International Short Film Festival begins
The biggest international competitive short film festival in Korea, the Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF) started its 10th edition on November 1st. The chairwoman SON Sook and the director
AHN Sung-ki, who have led the AISFF for 10 years, welcomed guests to the opening ceremony. At the venue were directors such as
IM Kwon-taek,
LEE Chang-dong,
CHUNG Ji-young,
BAE Chang-ho,
KIMJHO Gwang-soo and
MIN Kyu-dong and renowned actors including
PARK Joong-hoon,
CHO Jae-hyun,
YOO Ji-tae and
KIM In-kwon.
KANG Soo-yeon, Tony RAYNS and TOMIYAMA Katsue attended as jury members and
YUN Eun-hye as special jury.

JURY, the opening film of the 10th anniversary, also shared in the festivities. The minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism CHOI Gwang-sik and the chairman of the
Korean Film Council (KOFIC) KIM Eui-suk were also in attendance. Directors of other film festivals such as LEE Yong-kwan (
Busan International Film Festival, BIFF),
KIM Young-bin (Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival, PiFan), OH Dong-jin (Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, JIMFF) and LEE Hye-gyeong (International Woman’s Film Festival in Seoul, IWFFIS) joined the ceremony too.
JURY, the opening film projected in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the AISFF drew great attention. “I’m newbie director KIM Dong-ho”, said KIM Dong-ho, “I’m more nervous than when I gave a speech in front of 6 thousand people. I am grateful to the AISFF for giving me a chance to debut as a director.”
He then added, “I would also like to thank to actors who joined my film and waved their fees as well as the staff. I've started a new career, and I am willing to go on. If you leave harsh comments after watching the film, I'Il take them into consideration and work hard.” JURY received a standing ovation after the screening.
The 10th AISFF held until November 6th consists of an international section along with 8 subsections, the domestic competition section ‘Traveling Short in Korea’ and a special program.
