  • A Tale of Two Sisters wins top prize at Fantasporto
  • Mar 04, 2004
  • KIM Jee-woon's stylish horror film A Tale of Two Sisters took home four high-profile awards at the 2004 Oporto International Fantastic Film Festival, better known as "Fantasporto". The awards included Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress for IM Su-jung, and a Special Jury Award in the smaller Orient Express section. The film tells the story of two young girls who go to live with their father and stepfather in the country after recovering from some unspecified illness. In addition, PARK Ki-hyung's horror film Acacia starring SHIM Hye-jin took home the top prize in the Orient Express section. Fantasporto is the second-largest fantasy film festival in Europe, after the Sitges festival. Korean films have performed well at this festival in the past, with The Isle winning several prizes including Best Actress for SUH Jung in 2001 and Sorum also picking up multiple prizes in 2002, including a Best Actress award for JANG Jin-young. A Tale of Two Sisters was released in Korea in June 2003 and is sold internationally by Cineclick Asia.
