Korean Thriller DECIBEL, 2nd Place, Ditto 3rd Place

The Marvel film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, topped the box office for 2 consecutive weekends. According to the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS) of the Korean Film Council on November 21, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever topped the box office over the weekend with 374,648 viewers and 37.7% sales from the 18th to the 20th. As a result, it has topped the box office on weekends for 2 consecutive weekends after it was released, with 1,731,098 audiences in total.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has continued its No. 1 streak at the box office since its release in North America as well as in Korea. On top of that, it achieved $540 million in worldwide box office revenue, reaching the top 8 in the worldwide box office in 2022. However, the box office performance in Korea is lower than expected. Its prequel, Black Panther, recorded a total audience of 5.4 million, surpassing 1.75 million audiences in just 3 days after its release in Korea. 

Second place is the Korean thriller, DECIBEL, starring Kim Raewon. The film, DECIBEL, which was released on November 16, topped 2nd place with 336,314 weekend moviegoers and 32.1% sales. DECIBEL is a thriller depicting a naval officer's struggle against a bomber who threatens to blow up the city. The film beat Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on the day of its release, topping the box office. The difference in the number of weekend viewers at the box office is only about 30,000. 

3rd place is Ditto, a remake of a Korean romance hit in more than 20 years. Released on November 16, Ditto recorded 177,459 weekend viewers with 16.9% sales. The film depicts the puppy love of two college students connected back 20 years through old radios, starring Yeo Jingu and Cho Yihyun. The original version of Ditto, which was released in 2000, starred Yoo Jitae and Kim Haneul. 

The thriller, Fall, which was released on November 16, ranked 4th with 38,202 viewers, while Everything Everywhere All at Once, starring Michelle Yeoh, maintained its 5th place at the box office over the weekend, surpassing 328,107 audiences in total. Released on November 16, HANSAN: REDUX ranked 8th at the box office over the weekend.
