DECEMBER, THE FAKE, RED FAMILY and GODSEND Go to Sweden

The Göteborg International Film Festival has tapped four Korean films for their 2014 lineup. Screening at the event will be December, The Fake, Red Family and Godsend.

The low-budget debut December from PARK Jeong-hoon received the top prize from the Jeonju International Film Festival, the JJ Star Award, when it premiere there last spring. December will have its European premiere in Sweden.

YEON Sangho’s sophomore animation The Fake has been a heavy hitter on the festival circuit since its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. It won Best Animation Awards from the Sitges and Gijon International Film Festivals in addition to screening at events such as the Busan and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festivals. The Fake was recently named the Best Korean Independent Film of 2013 by the Association of Korean Independent Film & Video.

LEE Ju-hyoung’s North Korean spy comedy drama Red Family, which was written, produced and edited by KIM Ki-duk, premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival last year, where it won the Audience Award. Godsend, also written and produced by KIM Ki-duk, premiered in the Busan International Film Festival’s Korean Cinema Today: Vision section. The film, which will have its international premiere in Göteborg, was directed by MOON Si-hyun.

The 37th Göteborg International Film Festival will take place from January 24th to February 33rd this year.
