SPECIAL DELIVERY with Park Sodam Invited to Rotterdam’s Harbour Program
IFFR to Host International Premiere of One of the First Major Korean Films of 2021
Special DELIVERY, a new action-thriller featuring Park Sodam of Parasite (2019) fame, has been selected to screen at the upcoming International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The film will bow in the festival’s Harbour program, a recently launched strand that focuses on presenting a wide variety of contemporary cinema.
The latest film from director Park Daemin, already known for Private Eye (2009) and Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River (2016), Special DELIVERY features Park as a young delivery driver with a reputation for always getting her assignments for a criminal organization delivered on time, no matter how difficult. Her skills are put to their greatest test when a young boy steps into her car. Rather than carry out her mission to the letter, she decides to save the child and soon finds herself in the crosshairs of the police, who are in the pockets of the organization she works for.
While the full IFFR program for 2022 has yet to be revealed, so far a pair of other Korean works has already been invited, with Jeong JaeEun’s Modern Korea: The Age of Beasts and Choi Sangsik’s Korean Ghost Story – Ieodo (1969), both episodes of landmarks TV programs, invited to the retrospective Cinema Regained section.
Park’s film will be the second wide release of 2022 in Korea when it hits theaters on January 12. It will then go on to have its international premiere at the 2022 edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, which is scheduled to take place from January 26 to February 6.
