Rough Cut of Upcoming Animation by LEAFIE, A HEN INTO THE WILD Director

A new, Korean animated feature starring DOH Kyung-soo, also known as D.O of K-pop boy group EXO, will be revealed at the 21st edition of the Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival (SICAF). After the July 28th screening of director OH Sung-yoon’s Leafie, a Hen Into the Wild (2011), a 5 minute rough cut of OH’s upcoming animated feature The Underdog will be shown at the director’s master class.

The Underdog is about a group of stray dogs that have been abandoned by humans that find ‘a place without humans’ and realize their identities and the meaning of freedom. DOH will portray the main character Moong-chi, in his first voice acting role. Additionally new star PARK So-dam of The Priests (2015) and veteran actor PARK Cheol-min who was in movies New Trial and Operation Chromite (2016) will feature in the voice cast. The animated feature is aiming for a release in the first half of 2018 after six years of planning and production.

Meanwhile, DOH Kyung-soo continues to test his range for big screens in different genres of movies such as upcoming comic thriller Room No.7, which was selected as the opening film for the 21st Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan), and director KIM Yong-hwa’s fantasy thriller Along With the Gods. Both will be released sometime this year. Last May DOH was also cast in Swing Kids, the new film by Sunny (2011) director KANG Hyoung-chul where he will play a North Korean soldier who gets into tap dancing.
