Star to Incarnate Legendary General

Following on the heels of the hit Lunar New Year prosecutor drama The King, ZO In-sung is stepping into his next project, the period battle film Ansi City. The film is KIM Kwang-sik’s follow-up to his gangster romcom My Dear Desperado (2010) and the media thriller Tabloid Truth (2014).

Star ZO will play General YANG Man-chun, who led forces during the Goguryeo Dynasty in a battle at Ansi City against a foreign army led by TANG Taizong for 88 days.

Prior to The King, which welcomed over five million viewers to theaters, ZO hadn’t been seen on the big screen since 2008’s A Frozen Flower, another period drama. His famous credits also include A Dirty Carnival (2006).

The project will be the first project to be produced in-house by Next Entertainment World, one of Korea’s largest investors and distributors, through their new subsidiary Studio & NEW, which was also responsible for last year’s smash hit TV drama Descendants of the Sun.

Co-producing the project, which is reported to have a KRW 15 billion (USD 13.2 million) price tag, is Soojak Film. Once casting is completed in the next few months, Ansi City is expected to go before cameras in August before finding its way to theaters in 2018.
