Locks Deal with Animation Studio Meditation With a Pencil

Korean sales company Mirovision has added a trilogy of animated films to its lineup in the Cannes Film Market after sealing a deal with animation production company Meditation With a Pencil.

Called the Era Trilogy, the series of films kicked off with the 2011 feature animation Green Days, which represents the ‘past’ and now Meditation With a Pencil’s director AHN Jae-hoon and HAN Hye-jin are busy working on the second installment, called A Thousand Years Together, which represents the ‘present’. The fantasy drama, which follows an unknown illustrator who meets a mysterious being living inside a 1,000 year-old-tree, is expected to reach completion in 2018.

Following that, the animation studio will set to work on the ‘future’ installment, the fantasy adventure Asia Is a Silk Road about a boy named Asia who befriends an artificial intelligence being.

At the Cannes Film Market, Mirovision is shopping a number of projects, including My New Sassy Girl and Canola, both of which screened in the market. Released last week at home and late last month in China, My New Sassy Girl is a Korean-Chinese sequel to the highly popular 2001 romcom My Sassy Girl. A drama from The Target (2014) director CHANG featuring veteran star YOUN Yuh-jung and rising actress KIM Go-eun Canola will open in Korea on May 19th and plans are already afoot for a Chinese remake.
