The Season of Jeonju Has Come
What films are discovered at this year’s JIFF? Movies are waiting to vie in this year’s Korean Competition section, such as RYOO Hoon’s comedy Curtain Call, Jero YUN’s documentary about North Korean female refugee Mrs.B. A North Korean Woman, who is invited to the Directors’ Fortnight with his short Hitchhiker in Cannes this year, KIM Jong-kwan’s Worst Woman which stars HAN Ye-ri walking a line between indie and commercial films and delivers the unique perspective of relationships, and KO Hee-young’s Breathing Underwater which dimensionally observes lives of female divers in Jeju Island.
Meanwhile, films including If You Were Me, an omnibus focusing on human rights, by local indie veterans, SHIN Yeon-shick, LEE Kwang-kuk and CHOI Equan, are receiving attention in the Korea Cinemascape.
KoBiz Festival Screening: JIFF 2016 is set to screen the largest-ever lineup, 18 features and 25 shorts. It will open on May 9th and continue its service for three months.
