Born in 1971, JOO Ji-hong moved to Paris in 1996 to reunite with his parents who were working there and entered La Fémis, one of the most highly regarded film schools in the world. Among the many short movies that he made during that period, <Deal> and <Voleur D'Images> are the most notable as they allowed him to receive his first awards. After his graduation in 2000, he developed as part of Festival Emergence his first feature <Happy End>, starring Kristin Scott Thomas and under the supervision of director Olivier Assayas. Although the project won the Best Screenplay Award from the National Center of Cinematography and the Moving Image (CNC), he eventually shot nothing but a pilot. In the end, it is in Korea that he made his feature debut with the romantic drama film <Maybe>, released in 2009 to little success. He made a comeback seven years later with the romantic comedy <BECAUSE I LOVE YOU>.
